FAQ

Honest answers

What is the PCLL conversion exam?

The PCLL conversion exam is sat by overseas-qualified law graduates seeking to enter the HK PCLL (Postgraduate Certificate in Laws). 15+ subjects, ~300 candidates a year, today served almost exclusively by HKU SPACE per-subject prep at HK$2,900–HK$3,500 each. We're shipping a lifetime bundle at HK$2,999 — under what HKU SPACE charges for one subject.

When does Caselaw Hong Kong launch?

2027. The PCLL conversion bundle is the first product. PCLL prep for HKU, CUHK and CityU follows. We're starting an alpha now — join the waitlist to lock in launch pricing and shape the product.

Where do the case briefs come from?

HKLII (https://www.hklii.hk) — the Hong Kong Legal Information Institute. Bilingual EN + zh-HK. Robots.txt blocks /api but otherwise permissive. Department of Justice judgment archive for completeness. We respect rate limits and never train AI on bulk dumps.

How do citations work?

Hong Kong neutral citation system: HKCFA (Court of Final Appeal), HKCA (Court of Appeal), HKCFI (Court of First Instance), DCCC (District Court Criminal). Plus Hong Kong Law Reports & Digest (HKLRD) for older judgments. The /hk/cite engine handles both.

Is the platform bilingual?

English at launch. Chinese (zh-HK) UI shipping in Phase 2 once English is dialled in. The case corpus on HKLII is bilingual; the brief generator targets English first.

What about Pro pricing for current LLB / JD students?

Pro HK at HK$180/mo or HK$1,499/yr — full case briefs, casebook-mapped notes, AI tutor, Hong Kong neutral citation engine. No GST/VAT — Hong Kong has only profits tax + property rates.
