Statutory-jurisdiction trial court below the Court of First Instance. Civil jurisdiction up to HK$3 million; criminal jurisdiction for offences carrying maximum sentences up to 7 years. Hears employment-relations claims, Lands Tribunal appeals, and Family Court matters. Established by the District Court Ordinance (Cap 336). Most criminal trials in HK that aren't summary in the Magistrates' Court go here, with cases above the 7-year limit committed up to the CFI.
