The parties have my apologies for the delay that there has been in promulgating this decision.
The facts of this case, and in particular the way that those facts have unfolded, is important to an understanding of this appeal. It is therefore necessary to set these out at some length.
The Appellant arrived in the United Kingdom on the 19 th December 2018 in possession of a valid visit visa. He claimed asylum on the 23 rd January 2019. The Appellant's claim was 'screened' that day. He told the officer that he was a police detective in Algeria. He is married with three children. Asked what had prompted him to claim asylum he said this:
"My life is in danger there is a group of party that I am scared of. If I return I will be put in prison and great possibility that they will kill me. This started about four months ago in Algeria because I discovered this group who sells drugs they're after me"
