Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 25 April 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules that apply when you use caselaw. It forms part of our Terms of Service. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this AUP.
1. Account integrity
- One account per person. Account sharing is not permitted on any plan.
- You may not create multiple accounts to bypass limits, free trials, money-back guarantees, or to evade a previous suspension.
- You must not impersonate another person, university, firm, or organisation when creating an account or interacting with AI features.
2. No scraping or bulk extraction
- You must not scrape, crawl, harvest, or otherwise bulk-extract data from the Service beyond what is reasonable for personal study use.
- Automated tools, headless browsers, scripts, or AI agents that read pages on your behalf are not permitted.
- Reasonable, good-faith use of our public RSS feeds, sitemap, and OpenGraph metadata for personal research aggregation is allowed.
3. No reselling or redistribution
- AI-generated case briefs, model answers, and revision notes are licensed for personal study only. You may not republish them, post them on file-sharing sites, sell them, include them in tutoring services, or use them as training data for other models.
- You may not provide the Service or substantial parts of it to third parties as a paid or free intermediary service.
4. AI fair use
- Use AI briefs, AI tutor, key lines, and for-and-against features for genuine study purposes related to your own research, essays, and exams.
- Do not use AI features to: (a) generate spam, marketing copy, or commercial content; (b) attempt jailbreaks, prompt injection, or extraction of system prompts; (c) generate unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or sexually explicit content; (d) generate content designed to deceive in academic assessment or in legal proceedings.
- Per-plan rate limits are documented on the Pricing page. We may throttle, slow, or temporarily block accounts that exceed a plan's reasonable fair-use limits even where the plan is described as "unlimited".
5. No abuse of the Service
- You must not attempt to interfere with the Service's operation, including by probing for vulnerabilities, denial-of-service attacks, or attempts to access another user's account or data.
- You must not upload malware, viruses, or any other harmful code in private notes, custom flashcards, or any other input field.
- Responsible-disclosure security reports are welcomed at [email protected]; we will acknowledge within 72 hours and will not pursue legal action against good-faith security researchers.
6. Use in legal proceedings
Caselaw is a study tool. AI outputs may contain errors, fabricated case names, mis-cited authorities, or out-of-date information. You must not submit AI-generated content from the Service into court filings, pleadings, or formal legal documents without independent verification by a qualified legal professional. We disclaim all liability for outcomes that arise from such use.
7. Academic integrity
Caselaw is designed to help you understand cases faster, not to write your essays for you. Submitting AI-generated content as your own work may breach your university's academic integrity policy. You are solely responsible for compliance with your institution's rules.
8. Reporting abuse
To report a violation of this AUP โ including content abuse, account sharing, or copyright infringement โ email [email protected]. We respond to all reports within 5 business days.
9. Enforcement
Where we identify a breach of this AUP we may, depending on severity: (a) issue a warning; (b) throttle or limit account features; (c) suspend the account; (d) terminate the account permanently with no refund; (e) report to law enforcement or relevant regulators. We try to be proportionate and to give an opportunity to remedy the issue where the breach is minor and unintentional.
10. Changes
We may update this AUP from time to time. The latest version is always available at /acceptable-use.
This Acceptable Use Policy works alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
