Refunds & Cancellation

Last updated: 3 June 2026

1. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to all purchases made on getcaselaw.com, including the SQE1 lifetime access purchase (£39 one-time) and all Caselaw subscriptions (Free, Pro, Elite). It forms part of our Terms of Service.

2. Your 14-day statutory cooling-off right

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, UK consumers have a 14-day right to cancel a purchase of digital content or services. This cooling-off period begins on the day the contract is formed (i.e., when your payment is confirmed).

Important — waiver of cooling-off for digital content. If you access or begin to use the digital content (for example, by opening the question bank, attempting a practice question, or starting a mock exam) before the 14-day period has ended, you waive your right to cancel under the statutory cooling-off regime, as permitted by regulation 37 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations. We will ask for your express acknowledgement of this at checkout.

If you have not yet accessed any digital content and you are within 14 days of purchase, you retain the full right to cancel and receive a complete refund.

3. The SQE1 lifetime access purchase (£39)

The SQE1 lifetime access purchase is a one-time payment granting permanent access to the SQE1 revision content. There is no subscription, no auto-renewal, and no recurring charge.

Because lifetime access is non-recurring digital content, the following applies:

  • If you have not accessed any content within 14 days of purchase, you may request a full refund by emailing [email protected].
  • If you have begun using the content (e.g. opened the question bank or taken a practice question), you have waived your cooling-off right and no refund is available, except in cases of platform error or misrepresentation.
  • There is no pro-rata refund for unused access — lifetime access means access for the lifetime of the platform, not a time-limited licence.

4. Subscriptions (Pro, Elite)

Paid subscriptions auto-renew monthly or annually depending on the plan chosen.

  • You may cancel at any time from your dashboard or via the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation is effective at the end of the current paid period; access continues until then.
  • The 14-day statutory cooling-off right applies to new subscriptions. If you have not used the service within the 14-day period, you may request a full refund.
  • Outside the cooling-off window, monthly subscriptions are not refunded for the current period. Annual subscriptions are not automatically pro-rated on cancellation, but you retain access for the full year paid.

5. How to request a refund

Email [email protected] from the email address registered to your account. Include:

  • Your name and account email address.
  • The date of purchase and the product purchased.
  • Whether you have accessed any content (we ask for honesty).
  • Any other relevant context.

We aim to respond within 2 business days. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method via Stripe and typically appear within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.

6. Disputes

If you believe a refund has been declined in error, contact [email protected] with a brief summary. UK consumers may also seek advice from the Citizens Advice consumer service or pursue their rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be notified by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
