The case originated in an application (no. 46820/09 ) against the Republic of Turkey lodged with the Court under Article 34 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (�the Convention�) by ten Turkish nationals, Ms G�ler Karataş, Ms Pınar Şafak Karataş, Mr Berdan Ulaş Karataş, Mr Bıra Karataş, Ms Kumru Karataş, Ms Perince Ataş, Ms Nebahat Ateş, Ms Serincan �i�ek, Ms Yıldız Deniz and Mr Rıza �i�ek (�the applicants�), on 19 August 2009.
