Possible fractures of the anterior ends of the right fourth, fifth and seventh ribs.
Finally, Dr. Fairhurst reported equivocal thickening of the necks of the left third and fourth ribs. Therefore, the radiologists identified 11 rib fractures as well as further possible rib fractures.
The presence of soft tissue swelling, according to Dr. Fairhurst, indicated that the fracture was less than 10 days old and was likely to be less than seven days old as at 2 June 2014. Therefore, the injury occurred between 27 May and 2 June. In her oral evidence, Dr. Fairhurst amended this to say that the dates could have been 28 May and 3 June, depending upon when the swelling was first visualised.
The fractures of the neck of the right sixth rib, the necks of the left fifth, sixth and 10 th ribs, the antero-lateral left fifth and sixth rib fractures and the possible fractures of the necks of the left third and fourth ribs
